Yves Ruffin & Fils
"When he founded our Maison in 1971, Yves Ruffin immediately rejected the use of pesticides. He chose to continue using historical techniques of winegrowing. This decision made him one of the pioneers of organic viticulture in Champagne." — Champagne Yves Ruffin
Their story
In 1971, when most of Champagne was embracing industrial agriculture, Yves Ruffin rejected pesticides and chose to farm his 2.8 hectares exactly as winegrowers always had — making him one of Champagne's very first organic producers. His son Thierry continued the tradition, introducing oak barrel vinification and artist-designed labels. After Thierry's premature death, his wife Sylvie took the reins. In 2021 son Antonin joined, and today he and partner Cécile run the house together. All wines are pressed on a traditional Coquard press, fermented in old acacia and oak barrels, and aged at least three years before release.
