Tucked into the Alps and moderated by mountain lakes, Savoie grows grapes found almost nowhere else — crisp Jacquère, perfumed Altesse, peppery Mondeuse. Light, high-acid, mountain wines made for fondue and raclette, and increasingly relevant to Swiss tables that share these Alpine varieties. ~2,200 ha.

Its grapes barely grow anywhere else.
