A gentler, more scattered landscape south of the Côte d'Or, the Chalonnaise offers the same grapes at friendlier prices. Mercurey and Givry for reds, Rully for whites and Crémant, and Bouzeron — the only village AOC dedicated to Aligoté.

Aligoté is the classic base for kir.
